WHO WE ARE

A mysterious band formed in the Catacombs of Doom…

Uncle Skunk is an independent five-piece rock band based in New York City that aims to supplement inventive, melodic songwriting with intricate soundscapes that draw on diverse influences from folk to metal. The band was formed in 2018 when Otis Streeter (guitar/lead vocals) invited friends Sam Benezra (guitar) and Henry Pearson (guitar) to develop some of his home recordings for live performance. Robert Kim (bass) and Teddy Sidiropoulos (drums) joined as permanent members in 2021. Uncle Skunk has since become prolific on thelocal circuit, ranking 2023’s 17th hardest work band in the New York City according to OhMyRockness.com and has thus gained a reputation as a “mammoth live act” (Look at My Records) built upon a dynamic rhythm section, dual lead guitars, and Streeter’s spirited vocal performance.

WHAT WE DO

UNCLE SKUNK: II (2024)

“Some of the best cutting-edge, highly-emotive, psych-infused, alternately upbeat, narcoticized, and terrifying indie pop-rock music infused with ample dollops of electronic manipulation that we’re heard in some time”

-Jason Lee of The Deli

UNCLE SKUNK: I (2019)

“NYC’s Uncle Skunk have that My Bloody Valentine sound down alright, not particularly elaborately layered so I was thinking more ‘Isn’t Anything’ than ‘Loveless’ but the dissonance applied is still infectious...one of those rare things that just keeps getting better and better as the seconds glide by”

-MP3 HUGGER

HEAVEN RIVER (2022)

“This 5 song EP showcases the collaborative and eclectic sound two years in the making. It’s a densely packed rock sound matched with folk vocals and a droney soundscape. In songs like Together you’ll hear more metal influences hiding in the background— making them some heavy- hitters”

-Park Slope Reader

AUSSIE TENDER (2023)

“NYC project Uncle Skunk enthrall with their latest single “Aussie Tender,” whose harmonious and hook-minded rock sound conjures a nostalgia reminiscent of The Replacements.”

-Obscure Sound
